Our History
Esperanza del Pucará S.A. was founded in August 2011 by Simonetta Orlando (Italian), collaborator of the Italian base of the Argentine foundation Los Niños del Mañana, Raul Bagatello, president of the same foundation, and Eduardo Maurizio, agronomist.
The society was established with the objective of purchasing the Finca Pucará, which was accomplished on September 16, 2011, adding "Esperanza" (Hope) to its name. This addition reflects the founders' desire to revive hope in the place, where the land and its inhabitants had been neglected and abandoned. With a special focus on children, providing them with resources through the foundation, offering employment to parents, and creating new growth opportunities for all stakeholders, including ourselves.

History of the Pucará Valley
The territory that now comprises our farm in the Calchaquí Valleys has been the scene of a long history of conflicts, resistance, conquests, and transculturation. This strategic location, where the Qapac Ñan, or Royal Road of the Incas, and Route 40 converge, has witnessed events that have shaped regional and cultural development over time.
From the Pukaras, natural fortresses used during the Inca expansion, to the fierce resistance of the Calchaquí people against the Inca and Spanish invaders, the history of this valley is a testament to tenacity and adaptation. The conquest of the valleys, which culminated in the dispersal of the native population to Guachipas, Ampascachi, and Moldes, left an indelible mark on the region.
Through centuries of conflict and harmony, a lasting peace was achieved, bringing with it development and prosperity. At the Esperanza del Pucará estate, the remnants of ancient fortresses and the stories of this past bear witness to the present that has shaped the landscape and local culture. It is a place where history intertwines with natural beauty, reminding us of the importance of understanding and preserving our heritage.
